Grief & Loss Counselling
in Kelowna

Helping you through tough times.

Grief is something that we all experience in our lifetime. Whether your loss was recent or years ago, expected or sudden, it can leave you feeling heartbroken, exhausted, numb, or unsure how to keep going. There is no right way to grieve and no timeline you need to follow.

At Your Wellness Counselling, I offer a gentle space for people to feel what they feel, remember who or what they’ve lost, and be met with understanding. You don’t have to carry this alone.

Navigating Through Loss

Grief is the natural response to loss. It can come in waves, soften and return, and show up in ways you may not expect. Some days you may feel strong, and others you may feel like you’re back at the beginning. All of this is part of grieving.

Grief can be felt in many ways:

  • Deep sadness, anger, guilt, loneliness, longing, relief, or numbness, sometimes all in the same day.

  • Exhaustion, trouble sleeping, changes in appetite, heaviness in your chest, or feeling physically drained

  • Difficulty concentrating, replaying memories or “what ifs,” or struggling to believe that it’s real

  • Pulling away from others, losing interest in things you once enjoyed, or feeling like the world has moved on without you

Grief is not a problem to be fixed or a sign that you’re not coping. It is a reflection of how much someone or something mattered to you.

Types of Loss We Can Work Through

Grief isn’t limited to one kind of loss, and every loss deserves to be taken seriously. Some of the experiences I support people with include:

Death of a Loved One

The loss of a parent, partner, child, sibling, friend, or other person who was an important part of your life.

Sudden or Traumatic Loss

Losses that happen unexpectedly, through accident, illness, or violence, and can leave you in shock or feeling constantly on edge.

Anticipatory Grief

The sorrow of watching someone you love decline or face a terminal illness, and grieving before the loss has happened.

Loss of a Relationship

The pain of separation, divorce, estrangement, or the end of a friendship.

Pregnancy and Infant Loss

The heartbreak of miscarriage, stillbirth, or the loss of a baby, often a quiet grief that others may not fully understand.

Loss of Health, Identity, or Purpose

Grieving a diagnosis, an injury, a career, a role, or a version of yourself or your future that you once imagined.

You may recognize yourself in more than one of these, and that’s perfectly okay. Whatever you’ve lost, your grief is valid.

How Therapy Can Help With Grief

Therapy offers a place where your grief doesn’t have to be hidden, explained, or rushed. Together, at a pace that feels right for you, we can:

Make space to feel: Let your emotions be exactly as they are, without judgment or pressure to “move on.”

Honour what you’ve lost: Remember, talk about, and celebrate the person, relationship, or chapter that mattered, and find ways to keep that connection alive.

Ease the weight on your body and mind: Practice grounding and mindfulness tools to help with exhaustion, anxiety, and sleepless nights.

Work through complicated feelings: Gently process guilt, regret, anger, or unfinished conversations that can make grief feel heavier.

Find your way forward: Build a life that carries your loss with you, at your own pace and in your own way.

I’m here to walk alongside you as you grieve in your own time. As one client shared, having space to feel, remember, and begin healing at her own pace made all the difference. Online sessions allow you to talk from the comfort and privacy of your own home in Kelowna, wherever you feel safest to open up.
