Online Anxiety Counselling in Kelowna
If your mind feels like it never gets to rest, you’re not alone. Anxiety can make even ordinary days feel heavy. It can steal your sleep, tighten your chest, and leave you feeling tired from simply trying to keep it together.
At Your Wellness Counselling, I offer a gentle space for people to pause, breathe, and be met with understanding. You don’t have to carry this by yourself.

What Is Anxiety?
Feeling nervous before a meeting, overthinking a situation, or worrying about something uncertain is a normal human response. However, if these feelings occur frequently, even when there is no immediate threat, they may be a sign of an anxiety disorder. Anxiety is your body’s way of trying to protect you. It’s an alarm system designed to keep you safe. But when life gets overwhelming and stressful, that alarm can get stuck on, even when you’re safe and suddenly you might feel like you are constantly on the survival mode.

You might notice:
-
Constant worry, restlessness, irritability, or a quiet sense that something is wrong
-
You can't help but think of “what ifs,” scenarios, which results in difficulty focusing, overthinking, or bracing for the worst
-
Avoiding things that feel overwhelming, needing frequent reassurance, or finding it hard to relax
-
Racing heart, tight chest, tense muscles, headaches, an unsettled stomach, exhaustion, or nights without rest
Types of Anxiety
Anxiety doesn't look the same for everybody. Some common types include:
Generalized Anxiety
A steady undercurrent of worry about everyday life, such as work, family, health, or the future, that feels hard to switch off.
Social Anxiety
A deep fear of being judged or embarrassed, which can make connecting with others feel exhausting or frightening.
Panic Attacks and Panic Disorder
Sudden, intense waves of fear that can bring a pounding heart, breathlessness, dizziness, and a feeling of losing control.
Health Anxiety
Ongoing worry about your health or physical sensations, even when you’ve been told everything is fine.
Phobias
A strong fear of a specific situation or object, like flying, heights, or medical settings, that can shape how you move through the world.
Trauma-Related Anxiety
When your body continues to feel on guard long after a painful or overwhelming experience has ended, including PTSD.
Stress, Burnout, and Life-Transition Anxiety
The strain that can build during times of change, pressure, or loss, such as a new job, a relationship shift, or grief.
Anxiety is extremely common and you may recognize yourself in more than one of these, and that’s okay. Anxiety can be managed, and effective treatments are available.
